So did you start at the eye or the head feathers? And did you have in mind what you were going to draw when you started?
I'm just impressed. I want to seriously up my drawing capabilities. However, I have discovered in the making of Boston's quiet book that I can draw a little better than I had thought...
I'll bet you can draw better than I can....which is not hard... I started at the head feathers -- I saw the one line drawing exercise suggested in a book and decided to try a few -- they're pretty fun. You should try some!
I've actually discovered that I much prefer the way my drawings turn out when realized in felt or fabric. Clearly I need to join the family business. If I actually had my druthers, I'd be making quilts all day long... Maybe someday :)
I will definitely look into giving a one-line drawing a try. I just find that win drawing, even if I am the only person who will ever see it, I feel so embarrassed putting something on paper. I feel like it needs to be perfect or else it is a waste. Does that make sense? Something to get over, to be sure.
We may be twins separated at birth -- if I am drawing something and someone else even comes in the house, I slip it under a book on my desk until I am sure the coast is clear -- embarrassed is exactly how I feel. So maybe it's genetic. I can render an image in wool and be happy with it, however. Sure -- hop on board the family business! It could use some young blood.
